Salesforce Certified Agentforce Specialist

Salesforce Certified Agentforce Specialist (formerly AI Specialist) tests whether you can design, implement, and operate AI agents and prompt templates on Salesforce. The scope covers grounding in Prompt Builder, chunking, indexes, and retrievers in Data 360, topic and action design in Agent Builder, validation in Testing Center, deployment from sandbox to production, and multi-agent coordination including MCP and A2A. The exam is 60 questions in 105 minutes, and the passing score is 72%. The audience described in the official exam guide has roughly one year of hands-on experience configuring the platform. There are no prerequisites; the guide names Platform Administrator and Platform App Builder as recommended but not required. The content follows the Spring '26 release, so newer items such as Agent Script, hybrid reasoning, the Model Context Protocol, and Agent-to-Agent are explicitly in scope. AI Agents is the heaviest section at 35%, followed by Prompt Engineering and Data 360 Fundamentals at 20% each. The certification carries no expiry of its own, but a Trailhead maintenance module must be completed once a year.

Official page

Who takes it

  • Administrators and developers who have been handed responsibility for rolling out or running Agentforce in their own company
  • People already working in Prompt Builder and Agent Builder who want a structured approach to design
  • People who deal with Data 360 grounding — chunking, indexes, retrievers — as part of their job
  • Architects who design agent testing and the deployment flow from sandbox to production
  • People who want a current certification in the AI area now that the AI Associate credential has been retired

What it lets you do

  • Demonstrates agent design and prompt implementation skills in Agentforce against Salesforce's own standard
  • No prerequisites; you can sit the exam without holding an administrator credential (the official exam guide names Platform Administrator and Platform App Builder as recommended, not required)
  • The content has been updated to the Spring '26 release, bringing newer items such as Agent Script, hybrid reasoning, MCP, and A2A into scope
  • Can be taken in Japanese (the languages listed in the official exam guide are English, French, and Japanese)
  • The annual maintenance module keeps you tracking specification changes release by release

How hard it is

Pass rate: not published by the exam body. Salesforce does not release pass rates for its certifications. The passing score is 72%, at the high end among the company's certifications. The audience described in the official exam guide has about one year of hands-on experience configuring the Salesforce platform and working with standard objects (including Data 360). It also assumes hands-on experience building agents in Agent Builder and creating templates in Prompt Builder, plus an understanding of testing tools such as Testing Center and of sandbox-to-production deployment patterns.

How long people study

Not published by the exam body. Salesforce gives no estimated study time. The only self-study material the official exam guide names is earning Agentblazer status; beyond that it goes no further than recommending a combination of hands-on experience and self-study.

Questions people ask

I am searching for "AI Specialist" and cannot find it.
It has been renamed Salesforce Certified Agentforce Specialist. The exam code is unchanged from the old name, AI-201, and the old URL /credentials/aispecialist redirects to the current Agentforce Specialist page. This is the same exam under a new name, not a retirement or a merge.
Do I need another credential first?
There are no prerequisites. The official exam guide names Salesforce Certified Platform Administrator and Salesforce Certified Platform App Builder as recommended (not required).
Can I take the exam in Japanese?
The languages listed in the official exam guide are English, French, and Japanese. The Trailhead Academy catalog also includes Spanish, so Salesforce's own pages do not agree. Confirm what is shown on the registration screen.
Which release is the content aligned to?
The official exam guide is aligned to the Spring '26 release. Relatively new items such as Agent Script, hybrid reasoning, the Model Context Protocol (MCP), and Agent-to-Agent (A2A) are explicitly in scope, so older study materials may not match the current syllabus.
Which section carries the most weight?
AI Agents, at 35%. It covers how agents work and Agent Script, configuring standard and custom topics and actions, connecting channels, and the security context in which an agent runs. Prompt Engineering and Data 360 Fundamentals follow at 20% each.
