Salesforce Certified Marketing Cloud Engagement Consultant
The Marketing Cloud Engagement Consultant exam tests whether you can design and propose a Marketing Cloud Engagement implementation for a customer. The published scope runs from gathering requirements, through integrating with Salesforce via Marketing Cloud Connect, designing the business unit hierarchy and the Sender Authentication Package (SAP), automating work by combining Journey Builder and Automation Studio, and designing data objects and contact identifiers. The exam is 60 questions answered in 105 minutes, with a passing score of 67%. This is an intermediate credential with a hard prerequisite: you must already hold the Salesforce Certified Marketing Cloud Engagement Administrator credential. Salesforce assumes at least six months of implementation experience, or five or more implementation projects. The exam is proctored at a test center or with online proctoring, no reference materials may be used, and it is offered in English and Japanese. Appointments can be booked at any time rather than on fixed exam dates. The credential carries no stated expiration date, but it lapses unless the Trailhead maintenance badge is completed once a year.
Official pageWho takes it
- Holders of the Marketing Cloud Engagement Administrator credential who want to take the next step
- Consultants and partners responsible for requirements and design work on Marketing Cloud implementation projects
- In-house staff who design the integration between Marketing Cloud and Sales or Service Cloud
- Engineers who own Marketing Cloud Connect configuration and fault isolation
- Solution architects with roughly five implementations behind them who want to put language around their design decisions
What it lets you do
- Be able to explain what Marketing Cloud Connect can and cannot do, and how to troubleshoot it, from the requirements stage onward
- Cover the early design decisions that are hard to change later: the business unit hierarchy, Reply Mail Management, and the effects of applying a Sender Authentication Package
- Sort out when to use standard reports, data views and tracking extracts, so you can speak to post-launch operations as well as the build
- Paired with the prerequisite Administrator credential, it evidences both what you can configure and what you can design
- Check design patterns for complex automation that combines Journey Builder and Automation Studio against the official exam outline, with its section weights
